Montana lawmakers, health care providers plan to tweak workers’ comp overhaul
September 7, 2010 /
Lawmakers on Friday agreed to work with physicians and health care service providers to try to fine tune a controversial committee bill aimed at overhauling the state’s workers’ compensation program.
Last month, the Economic Affairs Interim Committee voted unanimously to approve a plan lawmakers said would lower costs for Montana businesses while slightly increasing benefits for workers.
On Friday, the panel heard from doctors from across the state who said the bill, as currently drafted, would cost doctors too much and result in many physicians refusing to treat workers’ compensation patients.
