Montana gets a decent return on investment in higher education

Don Larson’s suggestion (letter, Aug. 27) of "Retooling Montana’s educational system to meet the needs of the Montana economy" presumably resulted from his discovery that

1. a high percentage of the "best and brightest" of Montana’s high school graduates attend college outside the state; and

2. his assumption that "90 percent" of those who attend college in the state leave when they graduate, "after we taxpayers have paid 75 percent of their educational costs to find a suitable job." Does his suggestion rest on facts?
