Sen. Baucus Announces Warren Buffett, Barry Diller To Participate in His Butte, Montana Jobs Summit September 13th – 14th

Legendary Investor, Broadcast Pioneer to Speak at Economic Development Summit

Montana’s senior U.S. Senator, Max Baucus announces investor, famed industrialist and philanthropist, Warren Buffett, has accepted his invitation to attend the Montana Economic Development Summit http://www.montanaeconomicsummit.org/ in Butte September 13th – 14th.

"I’m so thrilled Montanans will have the chance to learn from my friend, Warren. He truly understands Montana’s potential and the need to connect our hard-working business leaders with the tools they need to get ahead and create good-paying jobs. This is such great news." Baucus said.

Baucus also announced today media pioneer and internet executive, Barry Diller will be in Butte to help drive the summit’s theme of "Montana Solutions for Montana Jobs." Diller is known for his cutting edge vision as the father of Fox Broadcasting which challenged the entrenched networks of the time. He currently serves as Chairman of Expedia Inc. as well as Chairman and CEO of the internet company, IAC/InterActiveCorp, which owns Ask.com, Reference.com, Evite.com, Chemistry.com, and more than 40 other highly regarded websites.

"This is a win-win situation for folks in Montana." Baucus said, "Barry will get a firsthand look at Montana’s awesome potential. And Montana businesses will get to hear some sage advice from a true business pioneer."

Baucus invited Buffett and Diller to share trusted advice and innovative ideas with Montana businesses to break through current economic challenges. Buffett is regularly named as one of the richest people on earth.

"Folks have called Warren one of the best investors of all time, so I thought – why not have him join us in the Last Best Place as we brainstorm to move the state’s economy forward." Baucus said.

"Max knows that when opportunities arise, you’ve got to take the lead in making the very most of them."Buffett said, "Montana has so many special things to deliver and I applaud Max for coming up with creative ways to drum up business in his home state."

The 79-year-old CEO of Berkshire Hathaway has publicly promised to give 99 percent of his wealth back to society mostly through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Bill Gates previously took part in the successful 2007 jobs summit in Butte. Buffett will be joining the summit live via video satellite.

Buffett and Diller will join the world-renowned list of guests at the summit, which is free for all Montanans to attend. Additional speakers include:
