Juneau Announces New Tool for Montana Schools to Measure Academic Success After Graduation

Today, Montana Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau announced the launch of a new tool that will help schools better measure the academic success of Montana students after they graduate. A contract with the non-profit National Student Clearinghouse will provide schools, policy makers, parents, and communities with the educational outcomes of students even after they finish high school.

“By providing an accurate and consistent way to measure student achievement, we can help educators better prepare Montana students to compete and succeed,” said Juneau. “It is important for schools to be able to determine the extent to which our high school graduates are going to college as we build a world-class education system in Montana.”

Through a new partnership with the Montana Student Assistance Foundation and the Montana University System, Juneau’s office secured a contract with the National Student Clearinghouse that will give all accredited Montana High schools access to the Student Tracker tool to measure student achievement from high school into higher education. The Clearinghouse provides a nationwide, central repository on the enrollment status and educational achievement of post-secondary students.

The Clearinghouse, a non-profit organization founded in 1993 in cooperation with the higher education community, acts as the agent for more than 3,200 U.S. postsecondary institutions and more than 1,600 high schools providing them with educational verification and research services.
