Montana Rep. Denny Rehberg - 30-Second Survey: Jobs and Economic Recovery

July 16, 2010View for printing

The Economy and Unemployment

Some in Congress believe that jobs come from Washington, D.C. By this way of thinking, spending nearly $1 trillion to expand the size of the government in the "Stimulus" was great policy. But now, well over a year later, unemployment has not gotten better. More government and higher taxes will force small businesses to make an impossible decision: cut wages or cut jobs.

A Better Solution

There's a better solution to create jobs. Instead of more government; the answer is less government. Lower taxes, less regulation and smaller government fuels small business, the engine of job creation. I supported a one-year suspension of the Payroll Tax for all working Americans and businesses. It would have put money directly back into your pocket because you know how to spend that money better than a bureaucrat in Washington, D.C.
