Governor Schweitzer Announces Dore Schwinden as New Director at Montana Department of Commerce

Governor Brian Schweitzer today announced that Dore Schwinden http://www.linkedin.com/pub/dore-schwinden/18/8a3/577 will be the new Director at the Department of Commerce http://commerce.mt.gov/. Tony Preite retired last month at 72 after serving more than 5 years as Director.

“It is an honor for me to appoint Dore today,” said Governor Brian Schweitzer. “He is tremendously qualified and talented and will serve the state well.”

“I have had the good fortune to serve in state government in many capacities and I am looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities this new position brings,” said Dore Schwinden.

Dore Schwinden, age 53, will serve as the new Director of the Department of Commerce. He has been serving as the Deputy Director of the Department of Labor and Industry since 2005. Prior to that he served as Legislative Director and Land Board Advisor to the State Auditor, as a consultant to Stillwater Mining Company and as a Montana State Representative. Schwinden received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Montana. He has one son, Nick. Salary – $96,984.

Schwinden will begin transitioning from his position at Department of Labor to his new position immediately.
