Montana telecoms cheer news of Internet stimulus funding

Local telecom officials on Friday hailed the selection of Montana’s first federal stimulus-funding awards for expanding high-speed Internet, saying the projects will reach truly underserved areas and populations in the state.

“The (awards) in Montana seem to be funding projects for things the program is actually intended for,” said Geoff Feiss, general manager of the Montana Telecommunications Association http://www.telecomassn.org/ , including expanding service where it is needed, and extending it where there is none, he added.
