Newcomers to city bullish on Billing’s atmosphere, townsfolk

Joe Sinclair’s friends thought he was crazy. But the

Tennessee native had a reason for driving through a snowstorm to arrive in Billings in the middle of February.

“I planned to come in winter,” said Sinclair, who has spent the past few years living and working in Georgia. “I figured I need to learn to live here. I needed to come out in winter to know what it feels like.”

When Joe arrived in February, two months ahead of his wife, Devynn, he’d never stepped foot in Montana. He arrived with more than a year’s worth of savings but knew no one and came looking for work.

“I always wanted to live here,” he said. “I knew I could make it happen.”
