Internet providers await word on federal grants

A controversial high-speed Internet network proposal from Bresnan Communications is no longer in the running, but telecom providers across the state are still waiting and watching to see who might receive multimillion-dollar federal grants to expand high-speed Internet services in Montana.
Nearly 20 proposals in Montana totaling more than $200 million are being considered by the Obama administration, which says it will start announcing the final grants and loans this summer.
