Fruhlander looking at Duluth, Minn., Ohio, and Butte, Montana

The decision on where a major European wind turbine firm will locate its plants was delayed last month when the volcanic eruptions in Iceland prevented corporate leaders from flying to the decision-making meeting in Europe.

But the Duluth-based team leading the effort to entice the European company to the Northland for its U.S. expansion could learn this week whether it’s a go for the Northland.

Representatives of Area Partnership for Economic Expansion, or APEX, will meet with the wind turbine company’s officials Tuesday during the American Wind Energy Association’s energy conference in Dallas.

Fuhrlander http://www.fuhrlaender.com/index_en.php of Germany, one of the world’s leading wind turbine companies, with manufacturing plants in Brazil and Germany will visit Butte Thursday, according to local officials. The company has not made a commitment to build in Butte, however.
