Metamaterial could boost solar cell efficiency
April 26, 2010 /
Scientists have engineered a type of artificial optical material with a 3-D structure that allows it to bend light—approaching from nearly any angle—in the “wrong” direction from what normally would be expected.
Researchers say the material could be useful for improving solar cells and may open the door to unusual phenomena like superlensing and invisibility cloaking.
