Glacier National Park at 100: A storied past. An uncertain future.
It’s understandable that stunning mountain vistas do little to surprise people who grew up in a place like western Montana. But when standing along the shores of Lake McDonald at night, it is hard not to be rendered speechless. Gazing at the horizon, you’re greeted with the jagged peaks of the Lewis and Clark Range shooting skyward into the darkest of nights. Leaning back and staring into the heavens above, an endless number of stars stare back, each one brighter than the next. The sky is untarnished by the light pollution of civilization.
This is a rare jewel of unblemished nature. This is Glacier National Park http://www.nps.gov/glac/index.htm.
