Going 3-D at Rocky Mountain Labs in Hamilton, Montana

A lab coat, for sure. A microscope, of course. But a pair of 3-D glasses?

Well, if you are examining the otherworldly images from the latest electron microscope at Rocky Mountain Laboratories, sometimes.

"For me there’s just a lot of artistry involved in what we’re doing here," said Beth Fischer, head of the research technology group at RML, where a new, state-of-the-art electron microscope recently became operational. "But, of course, there’s a lot of value in the science of what we do, too."

The artistry and the science of RML’s new microscopy unit will be on display Friday night when Fischer hosts "Through the Microscope: Science in Wonderland," at the Performing Arts Center of Hamilton High School, starting at 7 p.m.
