Gazette Opinion: Billings K-12 schools lag behind in technology. You owe it to Montana’s future to VOTE!

To learn about the state of technology in Billings Public Schools, The Billings Gazette asked teachers and techs for information.

Marvin “Cal” Forquer, one of two computer/audiovisual techs at Billings Senior High, has been on the school staff for 10 years. Some of the 800 or so computers used by Senior students or staff have been in service since Forquer started a decade ago.

“Particularly in science labs, there’s no funding to replace them,” Forquer added. He estimated that 80 percent of all the school’s computers are more than four years old. Many were donated used.
