Wheeler Conference in Bozeman looks for ways to heal Montana’s recession-stung economy

Helping Montana’s economy heal after the Great Recession will require tons of government money, or more private-sector innovation, or better schools or any of a number of other ideas being discussed this week at a conference in Bozeman.

The conference, sponsored by the Bozeman-based Burton K. Wheeler Center for Public Policy http://www.wheelercenter.org , started Monday and continues today at the Best Western GranTree Inn.

Wheeler Center Director Ralph Johnson said the goal is to get Montana’s businesspeople talking about how the state weathered the downturn, what lessons can be learned from that and how those lessons can be applied to the future.
