When the Montana Board of Regents hired a new president for Montana State University last fall, they offered a salary that was about $75,000 more than the retiring president Geoff Gamble was paid. Why? Because that’s what it took to hire the best candidate, Waded Cruzado.
On Friday, regents voted to give retiring University of Montana President George Dennison a $75,000 annual raise. Why?
In this period of university budget-cutting, there is no good answer for boosting Dennison’s pay six months before his announced retirement date.
