UCSD launches student-assisted venture fund

The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego http://management.ucsd.edu/ has launched a student-assisted venture capital fund, which it says is the first in San Diego County.

The Rady Venture Fund http://rady.ucsd.edu/invest/venture/ will give the school’s Master of Business Administration candidates and other UCSD graduate students hands-on education in funding startups and encouraging entrepreneurship, said Lada Rasochova, a Rady School alumna who manages the Rady Venture Fund program.

The fund will make one or two investments each year in Southern California startups, mainly in high-tech, life sciences and environmental technologies, she said. Investments are expected to range between $75,000 to $150,000.
