RISE finds ever more ways for startups to get going, growing

I’m plotting my strategy for covering RISE Austin next week, and it’s not easy.

The annual event — which is a little like

a South By Southwest for entrepreneurs — has packed more events and forums into its five-day run than ever before.

The idea behind RISE — which stands for Relationship and Information Series for Entrepreneurs — is to provide a forum for aspiring, new and veteran entrepreneurs to connect and exchange ideas in small group sessions. This year, more than 150 sessions will take place all over Austin in conference rooms, coffee shops, law offices and at the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Veteran entrepreneurs will discuss what it takes to launch a business and the risks and rewards that go with it. Attorneys and venture capitalists will tackle how to create a business plan and raise money. Web experts will talk about how to use social networking technology to build a startup. And there are at least another 147 topics to choose from. (They’re all listed at http://www.riseaustin.org .)
