National Governor’s Association – Congressional action critical to retaining vital services in rural counties

Bear Paw Development Corporation is a private non-profit organization created for the purpose of administering programs to help improve regional economic conditions in Hill, Blaine, Liberty, Chouteau and Phillips Counties and the Fort Belknap and Rocky Boy's Indian Reservations.

On behalf of their colleagues, Govs. Brian Schweitzer, Chairman of the Western Governors’ Association, and C.L. "Butch" Otter, Vice Chairman, have called on the Obama Administration to back multi-year reauthorization of a federal program that provides vital services to rural counties.

The Governors recently sent the following letter to Secretaries Tom Vilsack, Agriculture; Arne Duncan, Education; Ken Salazar, Interior; and Janet Napolitano, Homeland Security:
