UC San Diego launches student-assisted venture fund

The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego has launched a student-assisted venture capital fund, which it says is the first in San Diego County.

The Rady Venture Fund will give the school’s Master of Business Administration candidates and other UCSD graduate students hands-on education in funding startups and encouraging entrepreneurship, said Lada Rasochova, a Rady School alumna who manages the Rady Venture Fund program.

The fund will make one or two investments each year in Southern California startups, mainly in high-tech, life sciences and environmental technologies, she said. Investments are expected to range between $75,000 to $150,000.
