Study finds North Dakota Centers of Excellence had $329 million impact

A partnership among North Dakota college campuses and the private sector has had a $329.4 million economic impact on the state, a new study of the program shows.

“Those are the kinds of results we were hoping to achieve and we want to continue to achieve,” Gov. John Hoeven said of the Centers of Excellence program http://governor.nd.gov/init/ce-init.html .

The study estimated the economic impact of the program from Jan. 1, 2007, through June 30, 2009. It shows the program, an initiative to combine education and economic development to create higher-paying jobs, led to the creation of 2,060 jobs.

That includes 922 jobs with average salaries of $48,266 created by Centers of Excellence or by partnering companies.
