Things are looking up in downtown Great Falls, Montana

Wandke has seen many changes to the business district over the past 12 years.

"I think it was hard for downtown when some of the big (department) stores pulled out," she said.

But that made way for more locally owned stores, and now downtown Great Falls is well poised for the future, Wandke said.

"I think downtown is in the best shape it’s been in a longtime," said Dave Snuggs, co-owner of the Downtown Dog House.

Downtown has seen the addition of a number of new stores and restaurants over the past year.
