Missoula Students Deserve Full Community Support to Increase Graduation Rates

Missoula can do much to lower the local public school dropout rate – but first, we all have to agree that the dropout rate is a problem that needs to be addressed.

And that is why it is good to see Missoula County Public Schools http://www.mcps.k12.mt.us/portal/default.aspx Superintendent Alex Apostle leading the charge to give this problem the attention it deserves, and calling on the entire community to work together to solve it.

There is no denying that many disparate groups in Missoula have tackled the issue in years past, often indirectly by dealing with the underlying issues that often lead students to leave school without a diploma – things like teen pregnancy, poverty or drug use. What’s missing is any sort of communitywide effort to address the dropout rate today.
