TED 2010: Speaker lineup announced

TED, which stands for "Technology, Entertainment, Design," will be held in Long Beach again this year from Feb. 9-13. If you wanted to go, it’s a little late. The popular conference sells out about a year in advance. It’s gotten so popular you have to send a pitch letter of sorts to get in.

The speaker lineup for the TED conference was announced Tuesday, featuring the usual mix of academics, technologists, futurists and artists to entertain and intrigue the world’s intellectual elite.

In other words, smart and famous people talking to famous and smart people.

Names like Elie Wiesel and Bill Gates top the list of speakers, supported by eclectic choices like Jamie Oliver, the chef, and Sheryl Crow, the singer.
