Pikuni Industries on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation, awarded $3.2 million for research and development.

The U.S. Senate has approved millions in funding for a Browning-based business that develops and tests new lightweight materials for use in missile construction.

Pikuni Industries (no web site found) — with partner Radiance Technologies of Huntsville, Ala. — is set to receive $3.2 million for defense research and development, according to a joint news release from U.S. Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester, both Montana Democrats.

Pikuni’s research efforts housed on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation will improve America’s missile accuracy at a reduced cost, according to the senators. The venture also will create jobs on the reservation.
