Hong Kong trade commissioner courts Montana businesses

Randy Dixon has been doing business in Hong Kong and China since the 1980s.

In terms of Montana and Hong Kong, that makes him something of a rarity.

"We don’t have that many Montana companies working with us in Hong Kong, and we are very interested in establishing more relationships," said Donald Tong, Hong Kong commissioner of economics and trade in the United States. "The primary issue is people here understanding what we can offer them in Hong Kong."

What China and Hong Kong originally offered Dixon, who owns a Billings company that produces industrial pumps that move oil products from large containers, was cheap labor for manufacturing. But Asia has been very good for Dixon Pumps.
