Will the Dogs Eat the Dog Food?

I really dislike the marketing department’s regular question "will the dogs eat the dog food" because as we all know, dogs eat anything. Yes, I’m knit-picking on an analogy that was never meant to be the end all of marketing questions. However, when we generalize the very individual, context specific and shifting issue of consumer behavior, we set ourselves up for missing the nuances that make up strategic marketing.
