Nonprofits needed in Montana now more than ever
As we enter the charitable giving season, I am reminded of the vital role that nonprofits have played and continue to play in my own life. I was born in a nonprofit hospital where my mother worked, dug holes in the sand box at preschool, discovered dinosaurs for the first time at the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, and experienced the joy of team sports by rounding the bases in Little League and eating sno-cones with teammates after soccer games.
I also have memories of spending time with my great grandmother at the nursing home grotto, delivering turkey and all the trimmings to low-income seniors around the holidays in high school, and learning about the world while attending a nonprofit university. My connections to nonprofits have continued into and throughout my adult life as an employee of charitable organizations and as a volunteer.
