Montana gets $1.8 million grant for grads from the Lumina Foundation

Montana will receive a nearly $1.8 million grant to help more residents to get college degrees.

The Lumina Foundation http://www.luminafoundation.org/ planned to announce today that Montana is among seven states receiving grants to increase the number of college graduates.

On Monday, Sheila Stearns, commissioner for higher education, and Denise Juneau, state superintendent of public instruction, said they were pleased that Montana’s proposal was chosen to be among the projects receiving Lumina money, which will be given out for up to four years.

The grant focuses on the state’s two-year colleges as well as getting students still in high school pointed toward college.
