Teaching for a New World: Preparing High School Educators to Deliver College- and Career-Ready Instruction

It is simple. If we want the very best for our students, their teachers must be able to provide them with the very best education. The members of the next generation of Americans will need to graduate from high school ready to compete in a world of rapid globalization, burgeoning technological innovations, and changing labor markets.

They will need to be informed citizens in a complex world. Not only do our students need to be primed for this new world, our teachers must be prepared to guide them. Yet, just as our students do not always receive the preparation they need for twenty-first-century success, neither do all of their teachers. All too often, the two situations are interrelated.
