Montana Career Opportunity – Acting Chief Information Officer – Great Harvest Bread Company

About us: We are a franchisor http://www.greatharvest.com . We support our existing franchisees and sell new franchises to qualified candidates who would like to invest about $250K to open their own business. We are a community of nice, generous, honest and authentic business owners offering phenomenal tasting whole grain bread and products baked fresh daily in their own neighborhoods across the U.S. We have grown in 30+ years from a single bakery to a community of over 200 franchisees. Our annual revenues are between $5 and $6 million and our franchise office staff consists of about 30 people in our Dillon, MT office and in home offices in MT, UT and NC.

Our IT history: In the past, we’ve added or modified our technology systems on an ad-hoc basis. Our current IT infrastructure is based on Microsoft software. We have also adopted Drupal as an open source solution for the secure extranet we have created for our franchisees to retrieve and share information. As we increasingly rely on these technology systems for nearly every aspect of our business, we recognize the need for a well-planned technology strategy to increase our existing technology’s efficiency as well as make well-informed decisions about possible new technologies. Earlier this year, we hired a consultant to produce an Information Architecture Roadmap. One of the first recommendations in the Roadmap, is to appoint an acting or consulting Chief Information Officer.

Qualifications: We are looking for someone with experience helping businesses navigate technology decisions and execute effective technology solutions. Specifically, this person will have experience with Content and Database Management Systems, open source solutions, Microsoft products and web sites. We are open to an individual as a contractor or an IT consulting firm. Time commitment: We think this is a 40 hr/month project for 12-24 Months. There is potential for developing into a permanent position in our small company.
