Waded Cruzado-Salas offered presidency of Montana State University

The Board of Regents of the Montana University System announced
today that it has offered the Montana State University’s http://www.montana.edu/ presidency to
Waded Cruzado-Salas. Negotiations with her will begin immediately.

Cruzado-Salas is current executive vice president and provost of New
Mexico State University.

Cruzado-Salas was selected from a pool of more than 60 candidates who
applied for the position and was one of three finalists who visited the
MSU campus in late September and early October.

Cruzado-Salas holds a bachelor’s in comparative literature from the
University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez; a master’s in Spanish from the
University of Texas, Arlington; and a doctorate in humanities from the
University of Texas, Arlington.

The other finalists were Steven Angle, provost, Wright State University in
Ohio, and Steven Leath, vice president of research and sponsored programs
at the University of North Carolina.

In March, MSU President Geoff Gamble, 67, announced his plans to retire
after leading the university for nine years.
