University Innovators Embrace Technology Commercialization Grants

In August 2009, USTAR launched the Technology Commercialization Grant (TCG) program, a three-pronged funding mechanism designed to bring innovative new technologies to market from Utah’s public colleges and universities. The results of the first round of applications show the program has been well received statewide.

The grant program has allocated funds to Utah State University, the University of Utah, and to USTAR’s Technology Outreach centers for use at regional higher education institutions. Innovative faculty members at these schools have been encouraged to apply for grants to commercialize new technology, and the results to date are promising.
