Giddy-Up’s new waterfall in downtown Anaconda soothes neighbors and attracts visitors to town

The new waterfall outside Giddy-Up Tack & Feed in Anaconda, pictured in both photos above, flows past the store’s front entrance into a small stream at its bottom. Owner Cody Thompson said he is working with the state fish hatchery to add cutthroats and rainbow trout soon. In all, the project is valued at $80,000.

The sound of rushing water outside Giddy-Up Tack & Feed is constant, crashing and splashing for the whole neighborhood to hear.

Tall boulders and skinny trees surround the shop’s new waterfall at 624 East Park Avenue. Altogether, they form a manmade nature scene flowing calmly alongside the front entrance.

Giddy-Up owner Cody Thompson said he has received much positive feedback since finishing the feature last month. It gives people the feeling of living in the outdoors, he said.

"Every neighbor that surrounds us requested we run it all night," Thompson said.

Giddy-Up Tack & Feed was recently named a 2009 Montana Family Business of the Year winner. It features a full line of clothing, gifts and animal supplies that Thompson said ranges from hamster food to horse saddles.
