Expanding horizons: Mandarin Chinese at Montana Tech draws diverse class

Hwe-Chu Tu goes over basic pronunciation of Mandarin Chinese last week during a class at Montana Tech http://www.mtech.edu/. This semester is the first time the Asian language is being offered at Tech.

Hwe-Chu Tu remembers what it was like learning English when she came to the United States to attend college in New York City years ago.

"People speak very fast," the native of Taiwan said. "I was very frustrated." But Tu got through it and became fluent at English while earning a master’s degree in mathematics at City University.
