State of the University of Montana : President Dennison says universities must lead the way out of economic downturn

The United States cannot remain a world leader unless more Americans pursue postsecondary education, University of Montana President George Dennison http://www.umt.edu/president/ said Friday during his 20th State of the University address. "I believe everyone knows that the United States has slipped to the second tier of ranked countries and appears poised to fall into the third tier unless we take action," he said.

Dennison took a far more global approach to his annual speech than usual. But it wasn’t the first time the president has highlighted the need for greater educational attainment by U.S. citizens.
