National Association of Seed and Venture Funds (NASVF) and the Federal Laboratory Consortium (FLC) Sign New Collaborative Agreement

The National Association of Seed and Venture Funds http://www.nasvf.org (NASVF) announced today they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer (FLC). The MoU outlines plans for marketing cooperation in a variety of areas including key member events, educational seminars, and the creation of a new network that brings together funding organizations with Federal technology programs.

"Our planned partnership presents an enormous range of potential benefits to both NASVF and FLC members," said NASVF President and CEO, Jim Jaffe. "Our members will have the opportunity to learn about the Federal laboratory system and understand ways that Federal labs provide value for technology-based organizations. Two examples are the Small Business Innovation Research Program (SBIR), source of funding for early stage technology companies, and Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA), which serves as a mechanism to increase Federal laboratories’ interaction with industry."

Dr. J. Scott Deiter, Director of Technology Transfer and Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA) Representative for the Indian Head Division (IHDIV) Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) and current FLC Chairman stated, "We look forward to the development of our new partnership with NASVF. While our joint efforts will benefit both organizations, the real beneficiaries will be the scientists, entrepreneurs, economic development organizations AND public/private investment firms."

The National Association of Seed and Venture Funds (NASVF) is offering all FLC members a $150 dollar discount ($750 value for $600) to attend the 2009 NASVF Annual Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from September 14-16, 2009.
