Career paths lead back home to Montana

Heather McCartney grew up in Choteau, but when she moved away after high school, she didn’t ever plan on coming back.

"I thought when I left town, I was gone forever," McCartney said. "I left five days after graduation. I was pretty intent on leaving."

McCartney, 34, lived in Bozeman, Livingston and Boston as well as spending time in Russia and Africa.

In all her travels, she realized she wanted to be in a small agricultural town, working for a small organization.

She moved back to Choteau 18 months ago and couldn’t be happier.

"Being in a community where people care about each other goes a long way in the quality of life picture," said McCartney, who now works for Front Range Supply. "The landscape here, I think is some of the best on the planet. It’s just a great place to live and work."
