Neville Log Homes near Victor, Montana seeks stimulus funds to retain or hire about 50 workers over the next two years.

A Bitterroot Valley log home builder submitted an application on Friday for $1 million from a new federal and state low-interest loan program using federal stimulus funds.

Demand for timber has fallen sharply nationwide because of the mortgage and credit crisis and a slowdown in new home construction.
