Montana Career Opportunity – Part-Time Accountant – Beartooth Capital

Beartooth Capital http://www.beartoothcap.com is seeking a part-time accountant who will be responsible for maintaining the firm’s operating books, partnership accounting, and financial reporting as well as providing tax and audit support. In this capacity, primary areas of work will include, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

* Bookkeeping & Accounting – Together with principals and senior staff, this position will be responsible for processing, maintaining and ensuring the accuracy of the company’s bookkeeping, financial records, financial reporting, accounts payable and payroll including timely payroll tax filing and reporting, bank reconciliations, and monitoring of the company’s financial forecasts.

* Transaction Accounting– Properly record various property related transactions, which include real estate purchases, dispositions, conservation easements comprised of various financial components, and tax credit sales, as well as maintaining on-going capitalization levels for the variety of ranch properties in the partnership’s portfolio.

* Partnership Accounting – Reconciliation of each investor’s partnership participation following capital calls, distributions and any other partner related transaction.

* Tax Preparation and Support – Provide direct support to the company’s outside auditors and tax planners in their review of the various entity records in preparation of both the company’s annual financial statement and tax filings.

Qualifications: The preferred candidate will hold a CPA and possess a minimum of five years of progressively challenging experience performing a range of accounting functions within an investment fund or firm controlling multiple investments. Impeccable personal and professional reputation is an absolute requirement. Verbal and written communication skills are also important. In addition, the position requires someone with a fanatical attention to detail, a proven ability to complete priority tasks independently and in a timely fashion, and a proven track record of responsibility and sound judgment in a position dealing with privileged information.

Compensation: Compensation will be based on an hourly rate and commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience. This position is part-time with initial time requirements of between 15-25 hours per week. There is flexibility in both the days and specific times one could work. If desired, this position has the potential to evolve into a full time role as the firm continues to grow. This critical member of the Beartooth team will work alongside the entire staff at the company’s new downtown Bozeman offices.
