Diversifying North Idaho’s economy from timber dependent to being focused on emerging industries with high wage jobs

If you train them, they will come.
The recently-formed Kootenai County Workforce Development Task Force thinks just that.
After receiving a $250,000 Regional Innovation Grant last year, the pioneer group of community and commercial leaders is putting that money toward identifying ways North Idaho can diversify its industry and economy.
By aligning education and workforce development to construction, manufacturing, aerospace, tourism and biomass development, the 300-member task force believes North Idaho’s economy can improve.
