SBA Montana District Office July Newsletter

DIRECTOR’S MESSAGE

We are now three quarters of the way through our fiscal year and the Montana District Office is running full speed ahead to
provide training as needed and to help our small businesses get the support they need. As you’ve probably heard, there have
been changes over the past few months at the SBA with the implementation of the Recovery Act, and you’ve surely heard us
say that “Yes, the Recovery Act is helping small businesses.” And it’s true, more lenders are lending money to small businesses
across the state which will help our small business thrive. We are here to help and if you have any questions or need
assistance with anything, the Montana District Office is just a phone call away.

In this issue, I review the Recovery Act changes and the impact it has been making for Montana small businesses and announce
some great training opportunities for small businesses and lenders/resource partners. We are working hard to equip
all of you with the knowledge and power to overcome any obstacles you may be facing during this time. And, we hope to see
you at one or all of these great training opportunities!
I also want to thank everyone who helped the Montana District Office celebrate our annual Small Business Week in Missoula.
The event was terrific and we educated over 70 individuals on Recovery Act issues before the awards luncheon. Thanks again
for helping make this a success and we look forward to seeing nominations for our 2010 awards!

On another note, we ask that you help us in welcoming a new member to our team. Cindy Vukasin started July 6, as a Business
Development Specialist and will be getting trained over the next few weeks on SBA and our programs. Cindy comes to us
from USDA-Farm Service Agency in Minnesota and will no doubt be a great addition! Please help us give her a hearty Montana
welcome!
