Oregon Small Business Centers funding cut by more than half

State funding of Small Business Development Centers across Oregon has been cut by more than half, forcing managers to consider sharp changes in how the business-training program works while scrambling for new money.
"Oregon has the second-highest unemployment rate in the nation and our challenge is to help entrepreneurs create jobs," said Tom Lowles, director of the Portland SBDC. "Cutting funding for a program with a demonstrated ability to do that is very frustrating, frankly."
