One in three Oregon students failed to get a diploma
| July 1, 2009 |
One in three students in Oregon's high school class of 2008 failed to get a diploma, a much worse showing than the state previously reported.
Under pressure from the federal government, the state adopted a more accurate way of tracking how many students earned diplomas.
In a file released Monday with no news release, the state reported that more than 15,000 students who began high school in fall 2004 or joined the class of 2008 along the way did not earn a diploma.
