Wyoming energy forum agenda (Oct. 25-27) takes shape – Western States Energy and Environment Symposium

Much of the agenda is set for a regional energy and environment forum this fall in Jackson, but organizers say they’re still waiting to hear back from two cabinet-level officials who have been invited to speak at the event.

Prime speaking spots are being left open in case Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and Energy Secretary Steven Chu can attend, said state Rep. Tom Lubnau, R-Gillette and a member of the committee organizing the event.

Sen. Jeff Bingaman, D-N.M. and chairman of the U.S. Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, also has been invited and has yet to confirm, Lubnau said.

"But we are planning a pretty high-power agenda even if we aren’t blessed with their company," he said.

Asked if President Obama might be invited, Lubnau said organizers want to avoid a major media event that would distract from the symposium’s work.

The University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources will host the Western States Energy and Environment Symposium Oct. 25-27.
