The Idaho Department of Labor is seeking comment on proposed changes to its Workforce Investment Act and employment and re-employment services programs for 2009-2010. Public Input Due June 22

The programs are aimed at training and employing dislocated and at-risk workers. They are federally funded, but have about 20 percent less money – $12 million – than the state received for them in 2002. Seventy percent of the available grants will be set aside to train dislocated workers and at-risk, low-income, out-of-school youths who have significant barriers to employment. The rest will provide assistance to students in alternative high schools or technical education programs.

The department’s strategic plan for the programs can be found online at http://www.labor.idaho.gov under “What’s News.”

Comments can be submitted until the close of business June 22 to: Office of Workforce Policy, Idaho Department of Labor, 317 W. Main St., Boise, Idaho 83735 or online at [email protected].
