A Bitter Middle-Aged Man

I made a Memorial Day resolution. I’m going to be a jerk. I’m now ‘forty-something’ and have been working in business development/ entrepreneurship/ venture capital for 18 years. I’ve seen a lot of business plans and more importantly observed the evolution of companies towards success and failure. Through management and board roles I’ve even enabled successes and failures. I think I’m finally at a point where I can move from being 70% supportive and 30% critical of entrepreneurs to more of a 50/50 balance.

I think we all come to this point in our chosen fields when, after experience, observation and education, we can efficiently form accurate and defensible opinions on developments in our areas of expertise.
