Montana mystique withstands modernity

When William Wyckoff set out to trace how Montana’s landscape and culture had changed in the modern world, the Montana State University geography professor brought along a camera.
And by the time he was done zigzagging across the state, he had logged 15,000 miles on the odometer and taken many, many photographs.
“There were a lot of really curious people,” Wyckoff said. “I spent a lot of days right on the center line of highways.”
