The Missoula County Public Schools faces $1 million shortfall

The Missoula County Public Schools http://www.mcps.k12.mt.us/portal/default.aspx district is facing a $1 million shortfall.

But things could be worse. If an approximately $170,000 levy request fails on May 5, the shortfall will be that much larger.

And that’s part of why Superintendent Alex Apostle has found himself working 15-hour days.

“I am out there talking with everybody I can about what we are trying to do in our district, which is to make it the best district in America,” Apostle said. “We understand that this is a tough time to be asking for money, but this money is critical to our mission.”
