Griffin-Hammis (Florence, Montana) and MNAPSE Will Establish a Minnesota Statewide Disability Employment Training and Technical Assistance Center.

The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) – Disability Services Division (DSD) and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), are collaborative partners in the Pathways to Employment (PTE) Medicaid Infrastructure Grant (MIG). We are announcing our selection of a qualified vendor to establish a Minnesota Statewide Disability Employment Training and Technical Assistance Center (Center).

DHS-DSD and DEED have awarded a contract to Griffin-Hammis Associates, LLC (GHA) http://griffinhammis.com/ , in partnership with the Minnesota Chapter of the Association for Persons in Supported Employment (MNAPSE) to develop and manage a statewide employment training and technical assistance center to support employment of people with disabilities.

GHA brings a collaborative business model and experience designing and administering training and technical assistance services. GHA staff has expertise in managing employment projects, systems change initiatives, training and technical assistance endeavors. GHA has a national presence and a strong reputation for cultivating collaborative partnerships with major universities, government agencies, provider networks, advocate organizations and family groups. GHA added a St. Paul office to their network of offices across the country in the states of Washington, Montana, Ohio, Virginia and Florida. GHA will again implement their collaborative partnership business model by including individuals with disabilities, their families, community organizations, program service providers, employers, county and state agencies establishing the Minnesota Center.

GHA will invest a well-known leadership team with extensive experience advancing and expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities. GHA leaders in this effort are Cary Griffin, Senior Partner of GHA and Bob Niemiec, GHA’s Chief Coordinating Consultant..

MNAPSE, a contributing partner with GHA in this initiative, is widely known as The Network on Employment, and is a key organizational force in the Minnesota Employment First Coalition. MNAPSE brings years of experience in progressive policy, advocacy and education in employment for people with disabilities. MNAPSE policy positions and teachings will provide a pivotal guiding influence on the training curriculum and technical assistance practices produced by the Center.

Preliminary strategic planning and initial organizational development for the Center begin in the early part of April, 2009.
